I’ve just stumbel upon a simple web site uptime monitor that runs on the Google App Engine infrastructure. It’s still very primitive but it’s able to send notifications by email and Prowl, with more to come. The best thing is you can run this on Google for free. Well… at least if you’re spending Google’s resources within the free quota.
Assuming you already have Git and Python tools for GAE installed, App Engine Server Monitor is very easy to setup:
Download the source code using git: git clone git://github.com/mrsteveman1/aeservmon.git
Edit app.yaml and update application name to use the name you reserved on the GAE.
Upload application: appcfg.py update aesrvmon
